QDirect 3.8 Adds Security, User Rights Management, Plus Real-time Printer Status Updates
QDirect, the Enterprise Output Manager from Rochester Software Associates, Inc., is a powerful print manager that routes and manipulates print workflow throughout an organization. With version 3.8, released today, RSA offers additional enterprise-class features to assist with security, auditing and status updates.
QDirect User Rights Management allows enterprises to restrict or allow capabilities based on user login, with support for LDAP authentication. An audit log can track activity by user, so management will know who did what and when.
QDirect Partitioning gives authorized users a Virtual View into QDirect. Operators see only the print sites, jobs, origins, and destinations that they are responsible for — no more and no less. Confidential jobs, such as payroll and financial statements, can even be segmented for security reasons.
QDirect 3.8 does more than enhance security. It also displays more information than before. For example, operators can have real-time access to printer status, including paper stock information and levels. Status alerts messages can be sent to operators to better enable unattended operations.
